Top Ten Tips Buying Outdoor Furniture

1) As with any space the most important thing is to measure it out. It doesn't matter what you buy or how much you spend if it doesn't fit.

2) Decide what the outdoor space will be used for. A dining area, play area and lounge area all need different furniture. Remember a dining table needs more room around it to accommodate the chairs being pulled out for guests.

3) Compared all the materials that are available to you. Do you like wooden or wrought iron furniture but don't like the upkeep? Do you like the easy maintenance of plastic but don't want the feel of it on your back and legs?

4) As with indoor furniture the range in quality is vast. Make sure your furniture is UV protected.

5) Consider the style of your home when picking furniture. A Victorian garden may not be the best place for an ultra modern sleek look.

6) Make sure your furniture comes with a warranty. Some higher end companies offer 5-10 years coverage with normal use.

7) While looks are important, comfort is what you really want. Take the time to sit in each piece. Look for comfortable cushions and fabrics and chairs that are wide and inviting.

8) Look for how the pieces will fit your life style. If you have children, furniture that is easy to wipe down and hard to stain is the way to go.

9) Don't buy on impulse. There are a number of choices out there and it is easy to make a fast decision and regret it later.

10) Always consider your four legged family members. A shady spot with a good water bowl and dog bed made of mesh for air flow, will insure everyone has a good time this summer.
