Nothing brings a home to life like architectural detail. If your home is one of these styles, or you just love
it and want to integrate it into your own home, here are a few tips to get you started.

1) How tall are you?:
Windows take on new heights. This style uses glass from floor to ceiling whenever possible to cast as much light into a space. With an open floorplan, the more natural light the better.
2) Is the heat on?:
Central heating allows the fireplace to go from function to form. Gone are the big mantels in this style, think narrow mantel shelves and stone mosaic or rough slate for the surround. A fireplace can act as a see-through room divider in an open-plan living space.
3) Belly up to the bar:
The kitchen becomes part of the open-floor plan. A work island that doubles as a breakfast bar eliminates the need for a breakfast table and creates a visual separation of space from the rest of the room. Double your storage space by putting cabinets on both sides of the island.
