Nothing brings a home to life like architectural detail. If your home is one of these styles, or you just love
it and want to integrate it into your own home, here are a few tips to get you started.

Georgian
This refined and symmetrical style is typically constructed in brick with a row of five windows across the second story. A decorative crown molding over the entryway door and pair of chimneys identifies this type of home.

1) That takes the cake:
If walls are the cake, architectural details are the icing. Motifs* from this style range from urns to crossed weapons and shields to simple wreaths and rosettes*. The key to all this, is using the same motif throughout the house to create a unified design.

2) I'm so over it:
An overmantle* says grandeur in an already grand room. Using architectural elements like swags, ribbons, honeysuckle or sheaves of wheat decorate this classic surround. A mirror inset in the overmantle is a classic way to reflect light as well as great style.

3) Walk this way:
Your entryway is the introduction to your home. While you can use other types of stone, marble is the desired choice for this style. The choice of black, white and colored marble is yours, just remember to use a symmetrical design with a circular pattern in the center.
