Run of the Mill to Romantic

This very large bedroom with bonus nook was uninviting and uninspiring but homeowners had no idea what to do to make this space feel intimate and romantic. The catch, the carpet had to stay to save on the budget but this couple wanted a design that would work with a new carpet when they could afford the expensive change.

A dusty lavender color was chosen for the walls with a deeper shade used in the nook to provide contrast. This color works perfectly with the aqua rug and will work beautifully with a new brown or tan one. To further sets the nook apart from the rest of the room, textured wallpaper squares covering just the small area above the window creates a striking visual.

Lighting was a problem in the room. A dramatic wrought iron chandelier commands the center of the room and visually lowers the height of the ceiling giving the room a more intimate feel. The chandelier now highlights all of the wonderful angles of the ceiling.

The one of a kind headboard spans the entire wall, incorporating the windows on either side. This unique panel design is mirrored in the nook to tie the two spaces together.

The nook gets a simple but striking seating area with built in butcher block tops in a dark stain, this look is repeated in the nightstands. A mix of masculine and feminine is always called for in a couple's bedroom, so lush bedding with a padded headboard and foot bench blend with wrought iron, dark furniture and butcher block to achieve this look.

Lush green plants, identical mirrors, and silver accent pieces add the final touches on this intimate, romantic space.
