Two small rooms added up to useless space for this couple who wanted to create a master bedroom. With the children grown and out of the house the homeowners were ready to have a larger room to enjoy and relax in. They wanted a contemporary retreat with a mix of different materials to make this space a stand out.

The first thing to go was the wall between the two rooms. Once that was removed we had one larger space, but that left the room without closets. The new closets, by the bed and on the far wall, were given tiger wood doors for an exotic twist. The old carpet was removed and replaced with blonde bamboo floors. This mix of tiger wood and bamboo gives the room a rich, exotic feel.

After some alteration the two dressers were reused in the room. The pieces were in good shape but the wrong style. By cutting off the detail on the bottom, painting them and replacing the hardware we were able to save on the budget without sacrificing the design. The homeowners never used their night tables so the choice to make simple shelves gave the room a modern look. A simple vanity area makes great use of an otherwise unused space.

The room was painted a dark tan and the furniture a warm brown to complement each other and enhance the contemporary look. The new bed in black leather gives the room a sophisticated touch, while the simple bedding with its tone on tone pattern gives the bed an inviting feel.

The artwork, fireworks burst carpet and simple window treatments, add just the right amount of color this room needed to complete this contemporary makeover.
